Blue Uniform

The 'Blues Uniform' will be issued by the Sqn (although are subject to lead times from our central store). This will include a dark blue and a light blue uniform.

The cadet will be issued the following items:

Beret & Badge, jumper, dark blue shirt, light blue shirt, trousers &/or skirt, belt

You will however, be required to buy some parade shoes to go with these uniforms. â€‹

'Green's' Uniform

The 'Green's' uniform will need to be private purchased and is not issued by the Sqn. This is used for adventure activities including fieldcraft, shooting etc.

It may be helpful to have a new cadet's greens uniform purchased if they are subject to long lead times for blue uniform but we do ask that they wait for staff to give a go ahead before wearing it to ensure that they have completed the necessary lesson input and been advised by staff to ensure the correct equipment is purchased.

The below links are provided as a guide for parents and cadets to know what items will need to be private purchased, various online vendors are available outside of the links below but the items must be correct if purchasing from elsewhere.

Note: CS95 DPM or MTP may be worn under allowed regulations but we recommend MTP as the current / newest issue items as this is what the majority of cadets wear for activities / on camps etc. Likewise brown or black boots can be worn but generally most opt for brown boots to align with the MTP uniform and current issue British Military equipment.

These items will be required for the cadet by private purchase:

PCS - MTP Smock / Field Jacket

PCS - MTP Field shirt

PCS - MTP Trousers

Cadet Issue Belt
(Do not buy the tan Velcro style as this cannot be worn)

Brown Leather Boots
(Alternatively black combat boots can also be worn)

If you're looking for an 'all in' option, some suppliers offer package deals such as Cadet Direct Cadet Starter Package. This may be a good cost effective option and things you should look for in deals are items such as:

  • Correct / current issue (PCS-MTP) Smock

  • Correct / current issue (PCS-MTP) Shirt

  • Correct / current issue (PCS-MTP) Trousers

  • Cadet Issue Belt

  • Trouser twists
(Not 100% essential but handy to have and many cadets prefer to use them to make their uniform smart for parades etc)

  • Military style Field t-shirt
(bonus item in a package, will be required but any olive green military style t-shirt would be acceptable)

Military /NATO sizing can be confusing but here's a couple of helpful graphics that should help make sense of the sizing.

To make sure what you're buying is the correct equipment, the labels should state the garment is PCS - MTP and also have a Nato Serial Number (NSN) which is a series of digits that generally starts with 8415-99
(E.g. 8415-99-317-8367 for the field shirt).

If you are really struggling, come and see the staff as we have some sample equipment in our stores that can be tried on for size.
