Activities
Flying
Air Cadets get the chance to take to the skies in powered aircraft and gliders, learning real aviation skills from qualified instructors and even taking control of the aircraft themselves. Whether it’s your first air experience flight or progressing toward flying scholarships, the RAFAC gives you unforgettable opportunities to build confidence, develop new skills, and see the world from a completely different perspective.

Blue uniform activities
“Blues” activities in the Air Cadets help cadets develop discipline, teamwork and confidence through a wide range of structured training. These include drill, banner drill and band, helping cadets master precision, coordination and ceremonial skills. Alongside this, cadets complete syllabus lessons that support their subject knowledge through a progressive classification system, with the opportunity to work toward recognised qualifications such as a BTEC in Aviation Studies.
Green field activities
“Greens” activities immerse cadets in practical, outdoor adventure while building resilience and confidence. Training often includes fieldcraft, bushcraft, obstacle courses, shooting, archery and first aid, giving cadets a wide range of hands‑on skills they can develop over time. Many of these activities rely on teamwork, communication and determination, challenging cadets to work together and push themselves to successfully complete each task.

Adventure Training
Adventure training gives young people the chance to push their limits and experience the outdoors in a whole new way. These activities usually take place over weekends and can include climbing, mountain walking, canoeing, mountain biking, skiing and taking part in major military marches such as RAF WARMA and the Nijmegen March in Holland. Alongside these challenges, cadets can work toward the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, building confidence, leadership and resilience through real adventure.
